Gourmet Candy Corn

I've only tried two flavors so far, but I plan on trying more!

This is the best candy corn I've ever had in my life!  It tastes just like a pumpkin pie!  Once I started eating it, I couldn't stop!  These corns are so very addicting.

I've also tried the Strawberry Cotton Candy variety!  I like the Pumpkin Pie ones a bit more, but these ones are good as well!  They taste like their namesake.

I found these guys at Target!  Just a little heads up, haha.

Bourbon Chokozutsumi!

Absolutely fantatical about these!  I couldn't find a picture of them anywhere, so a webcam shot is going to have to do what justice it can.

These delicious little guys are tiny mochi cakes filled with a green tea flavored chocolate.  They are absolutely to die for.  Rich and creamy and so very palatable.

Japanese Marshmallows!

Filled marshmallows, at that!

After a short reprieve brought on by an illness and broken finger, I've returned!  Today I stopped by the local 200 yen store in China Town and bought a few things.  There wasn't much candy to speak of, but I did manage a few bags!

Just now, I sat down and ate an entire bag of these.  They're so very tastey.  Apple jelly filled marshmallows.  The apple flavor is light, but just enough that you get that savory sweetness!  Very addicting.

This is the only photo of the strawberry filled marshmallows that I could find [they're around the outside].  Both these and the chocolate filled ones [seen inside the bag] are fantastic!  Like the apple ones, the strawberry marshmallows are light in flavor.  They are, however, more on the sweet side.  The chocolate marshmallows are not as light, but most certainly delicious [they're probably my favorite filled marshmallow to date].

I didn't get my hands on these today, but I've had them in the past.  They mimic the consistency of the apple and strawberry marshmallows, but with a mild grape taste instead!

 

Hello Kitty filled Marshmallows!  This cat dabbles her paws in everything.  These guys are sweet and tangy.  I prefer the mango to the pineapple, but they're both plenty edible!

Any one of these bags I could eat in one sitting, easy!  They're terribly delicious and light.  You won't ruin your diet with these little beauties!

Germany, anyone?

Here's a short pass through a bit of German candies I've tried.

Sour cherry gummies.  These things are freakishly delicious!  I can eat a whole bag in one sitting.  They taste nothing like any other cherry candy I've tried before.  I used to buy them where I work until we stopped carrying them, but I have had luck finding them at Fiesta!

Same brand, different flavor.  Red Currant!  These guys are sour like the cherry candies, but their flavor is disimilar.  They're a bit like having a sweet wine made into a candy and then coated in sour sugar.

Kinder chocolates!  I've tried a few different kinds within this brand, and they're all incredibly good [smooth, and creamy].  These Santas are milk chocolate on the outside, white chocolate on the inside, and hollow in the middle.

These guys are bizarre.  They pretty much taste like sweet ice [which is what I think they were going for].  There's no other way to describe the flavor.

Wafers with sour, powdery candy inside.  I love these things.  You can eat the whole bag and never feel full!

Gummy mice.  The best flavor comparison is circus peanuts.  The only difference is the consistency.  These mice are far chewier than your typical peanut.

A Tribute to Hayao Miyazaki

Because I love him and his work more than I can bear.

If you've ever seen Spirited Away, then you may have noticed these candies!  They come in different sizes and colors.  Sen feeds them to the soot balls:

Gotto love it.

They're pretty much just a softer rock candy, but I'm addicted to them like crack.  If all you want is a little sugar without masses of flavor on top of it, these Konpeito candies will be perfect for your palate.

And, since Studio Ghibli produced the film, I give you candy from Grave of the Fireflies as well!

These are the hard candies Setsuko eats in the movie.  They're soooo very different than what you'd expect out of fruit drops.  There're fruit flavors, sure: pineapple, melon, strawberry, etc.  But, there're also flavors like chocolate and mint!  I was surprised the first time I got a chocolate one because I wasn't expecting it at all!

This movie makes me cry so much.  But I still love it more than I can express.

A Taste of Australia

I haven't had much from Australia, but what I have had has given me the desire to try lots more!

This is the very best licorice I've ever tried!  It's sweet and chewy and tastes different than any other red licorice!  Just be careful, it'll get stuck in your teeth for hours [Kookaburra has a lot of other flavors too, including Black, Raspberry, and Green Apple].

I tried these for the first time in a Psychology class.  Our professor was trying a little experiment on us to see how we'd react to a new and strange flavor of Life Saver.  I've gotto say, there's nothing else that could ever compare to "Musk." They're odd at first [sort of like a mixture of baby powder and flowers], but once you get used to them you just want more and more!

These guys taste pretty similar to the Life Savers, but with a stronger taste and more pungeant odor!

Aaaaand, Tim Tams!  Soft and deliciously chocolatey with a subtle crunch.  Apparently they go very well with coffee, but I'm not much of a coffee drinker myself.  A friend of mine bites the ends off and uses the Tim Tam much like a straw!  It's very strange.

Japanese Chocolate!

Here're a few Japanese chocolates for your palate!

Strawberry flavored white chocolate on cookies!  Very delicious.  A simple snack.

The same thing covered in milk chocolate!  Nothing fancy, but definitely worth a buck or two!

Chocolate covered shrooms!  They taste pretty similar to the previous chocolate covered cookies, but I rather prefer these ones.  They're more chocolate and less cookie!

You can find these guys anywhere nowadays.  They're still delicious, nevertheless.  Cookies filled with creamy chocolate.  Just the right amount of sweet.  The vanilla filled ones are awesome too!

YanYan.  Pretty much large sticks of pocky.  These are fairly easy to find too!

And these.  Oh my good lord.  These are absolutely fantastic.  Mochi filled with bourbon chocolate.  Out of all the Japanese chocolates I've ever had, these are my favorite.  They're rich as sin, but I just can't get enough of them!
